What is pipe relining and how does it works?

Pipe relining, a form of no-dig pipe repair, was developed specifically to address this issue. This has increased the popularity of pipe relining among homeowners who would rather not dig up their yards or tear down their walls.

What is pipe relining?

Line relining is a technique used to repair damaged pipes without having to dig up the underground pipe to access the problem. It entails constructing a new, stronger pipe inside the old, corroded one in order to improve flow and plug any leaks. The relined part will be a tight fit with the remainder of your pipes, preventing leaks and cracks.

How is pipe relining done?

In order to determine how severe the damage is to the pipes, they must first be inspected. Closed circuit cameras were previously utilized for this purpose, but today engineers can employ forced electron leak location (FELL) tools to get a closer look at the damage and create more effective fixes.

The next step is to clear the clogged pipes, which is a multi-stage process. The standard cleaning procedures are performed first, and then any large or solid obstructions are removed. As a rule, automated cutters are used. To complete the cleaning process and provide a suitable surface for the resin to cure on, a high-pressure water jet is then utilized to blast away any debris from the inside of the pipe.

The pipes are inspected one last time, usually with closed circuit cameras, to ensure they are ready for relining.

It is now possible to calculate the length of the lining by knowing the total length of the pipes and the severity of the damage.
The pipe’s length is established, and then epoxy resin is poured within. As a result, the resin that will eventually harden into the pipe will fill the entire length of your pipes. In this stage, straighter and larger stretches of pipe are preferable over junctions and T-sections, which present unique challenges.

The next and longest step is the curing procedure. This technique can be done by hand by allowing the liner to cure, but usually hot water is utilized to speed things up. In the end, ultraviolet (UV) light is utilized to fully cure the lining, making it rigid.

Cutting the necessary joints and inspection holes is the final step before finishing the process. In this method, robotic cutters are used to eliminate intersections, while grinders or other surface-level cutters can handle inspection pits.

The relining of the pipes is finished. After the pipe relining firm you hired has finished their final inspections, you should double-check that everything is running smoothly.
